I attended Midland Primary School, followed by Governor Stirling Senior High School for my very public primary and secondary education.
I finished High School and moved straight into the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) to study a Bachelor in Classical Performance (trumpet), after which I went to the “DARK SIDE” to study Jazz where I majored in composition and arranging in my 3rd year.
I returned to WAAPA to complete my honours (resulting in the mark categorised as “1st class”) in 2009, and have since been a performer, composer, arranger, and been employed as a teacher at various WA schools (see the Bio section of this website).
I have been employed full time teaching brass (trumpet, trombone, euphonium, baritone, tenor horn, tuba and some french horn), theory and composition up to ATAR level, as well as being a band director of numerous ensembles at Guildford Grammar School since 2013.
After carrying around a-gazillion books for years, I decided to write my own containing some of my favourite bits and pieces from all sorts of sources. I have gained approval to reproduce the information where possible - even chatted to Allen Vizzutti about including some of his tech study material while here was over here many moons ago. I would love to publish this at some stage but I keep finding great exercises to add to it! Any advice, suggestions or comments are welcome. Hopefully, you can find something useful in it for your own plating, or as a teacher.
Feel free at any stage to contact me regarding any of the document that I have attached below.
